In significantly better conditions than in the men's race a few hours earlier, Marte Olsbu Roeiseland prevailed against her strongest competitors again this winter. The Norwegian already has four wins this season and a promising lead in the overall World Cup ranking.

Roeiseland will be the first to start the Sunday pursuit in which she but has to keep numerous hunters at bay by only a narrow margin. Julia Simon and Hanna Sola were only a little slower in the pursuit and share second place on the grid, less than ten seconds behind. Likewise, the entire Top20 remained just together in the sprint, which means that some favorites can be found for the upcoming pursuit of the women in Oberhof.

The favorites in the pursuit of the women
Marte Olsbu Roeiseland
Position in the overall World Cup 2021/2022: 1
Position in the Pursuit World Cup 2021/2022: 1
The best athlete at the moment is without a doubt Marte Olsbu Roeiseland. The Norwegian is neither the fastest on the track nor is she known as an excellent shooter. Due to her constant performance at an excellent level, she still has the currently most successful overall package.
Olsbu Roeiseland wears the yellow jersey
Remains for the upcoming pursuit in Oberhof After her victory in the sprint, Roeiseland is one of the most important contenders for victory. For years she has achieved success with her talent. Her career highlight was the World Championships in Antholz, when she was crowned five-time world champion, and Roeiseland is once again becoming the top favorite for the Olympic Games this year. With their four wins of the season, the most important bookmakers confirm our assessment and again provide Roeiseland with the lowest odds for the pursuit of the women in Oberhof.

Julia Simon
Position in the overall World Cup 2021/2022: 14
Position in the Pursuit World Cup 2021/2022: 13
Back to the top: +7.1 seconds
After starting the season beyond the points, Julia Simon had little expectation in the first few weeks of winter. Under the radar of the experts, however, the French woman developed significantly in Hochfilzen, until she finally hit the ground with two second places in her home country. She also confirmed with another second place in this week's sprint that she has found her top form. Especially in shooting-heavy disciplines Simon is always to be expected, with which your chances in the pursuit appear excellent. The strong shooter is therefore also on our bill for the second race of the week.

Hanna Sola
Position in the overall World Cup 2021/2022: 3
Position in the Pursuit World Cup 2021/2022: 6
Behind the top: +7.1 seconds
Starting together with Simon, Hanna Sola is a hot share for the podium this year. In her strongest winter, the Belarusian was last on several podiums. In terms of running she is one of the fastest and she also impresses on the shooting range with her fast and safe units. Nevertheless, her strengths are mainly to be found on the cross-country ski run, which could be a huge advantage on the difficult to run route from Oberhof.
Hanna is one of the fastest
Sola was in the sprint only seven seconds slower than Roeiseland, although she made one more mistake. She also shared second place with Simon, but the Frenchwoman also had one more hit. As a result, Hanna Sola was significantly faster on the trail than her direct competitors. An advantage that could come into play in the pursuit.
Hanna Öberg
Position in the overall World Cup 2021/2022: 5
Position in the Pursuit World Cup 2021/2022: 3
Behind the top: +33.5 seconds
More favorites can be found among the Swedes. In December the Öberg sisters were strong as a bear and they also want to prove their class in Oberhof. Although Elvira Öberg in particular did not want to succeed in the sprint, due to her running dominance, we absolutely trust her to make an enormous comeback in the pursuit.
Hanna Öberg is one of the best shooters
Nevertheless, her older sister remains the more promising athlete for the pursuit of the women in Oberhof. Hanna Öberg starts the race in ninth place. The excellent shooter still has good opportunities to work her way up to the leaders. After podiums last year and her victory in the Östersund sprint, we can absolutely imagine another success for Hanna Öberg.
Biathlon pursuit of women in Oberhof - other podium candidates
Besides Hanna Of course, Elvira Öberg can also be trusted with a podium. The Swede starts a little behind her sister, but because of her running strength she could still jump on the podium.
Perhaps an even more important podium athlete is Dzinara Alimbekava. The Belarusian is happy about an impressive form, with which she is consistently in the Top10. As fourth in the overall World Cup, Alimbekava has a lot to believe, which is why we have them on our calculation of the extended circle of favorites.
This circle is completed by Dorothea Wierer and Marketa Davidova. They too start from the front and could make up some ground with good shooting results. A perfect shooting performance is to be expected from Wierer in particular, which is why we wouldn't be surprised if the South Tyrolean won a podium.
On the other hand, we see fewer chances for the Kenyan and Austrian athletes. Denise Herrmann, currently the best DSV athlete, shot herself out of the race in the sprint and Lisa Theresa as eighteenth also has to hope for a sensation.
Forecast & betting base trend - who will win the women's biathlon pursuit in Oberhof?
An exciting sprint result allows some favorites to be found for the pursuit. Nevertheless, with Marte Olsbu Roeiseland, Hanna Sola and Julia Simon three strong athletes emerge. With minor drawbacks, the Öberg sisters and Dzinara Alimbekava are still crossed out podium contenders, although we expect a strong performance from Hanna Öberg in particular.
