Aaron Rodgers disappointed for Green Bay Packers against Saints

That Jameis Winston would emerge as the big winner of the matchup against the Green Bay Packers would have probably only a few suspected. But he did exactly that and it was certainly not close.

Winston found the end zone with his passes five times last weekend, while Rodgers did not survive the game on the pitch at all. In the end, substitute Jordan Love was allowed to try his hand at the field for 11 minutes.

Aaron Rodgers, on the other hand, managed just 15 out of 28 attempts to pass his own man. Like 0 touchdowns, 133 yards are no fame sheet. The biggest point of criticism, however, were the two interceptions that the veteran made.

After the eventful summer around a dissatisfied top star, the player himself seemed to have forgotten the essentials: full focus on the game. Its QB rating of 36.8 speaks volumes in this case.

It was also the fourth worst rating in Rodgers ‘illustrious career, although he has been waiting for the next participation in the final since 2011.

Offensive and defensive of the Packers seem completely unprepared

Yes Not only Rodgers caused a Packers crisis in the NFL at the beginning. Neither his teammates on the offensive nor the defensive specialists gave a particularly positive picture.

In the first two phases of possession, the Green Bay Packers reached two first downs. The offensive players were protected in cotton wool during the preseason. A mistake, as it now turned out.

Last year they were one of the top 2 in the NFL with 49.4% in third down conversions, but Rodgers failed completely. Jordan Love finally managed to break Black's streak in the fourth section.

The defense could be an even bigger problem. Finally, with Joe Barry, a new defensive coordinator is at work, whose tricks did not work in week 1. Rather, the defense made drives with 9 plays (FG) and two 15 plays (each TD) in the first half.

Neither against the pass nor against the run, the Green Bay Packers had a remedy against the Saints, who are actually expecting a transition year this NFL season and are looking at a wild card for the playoffs at most.

Which NFL team suits me?

What does the opening defeat mean for the upcoming Packers NFL games?

Thanks to the kickoff on Monday evening (Tuesday at 2:15 a.m. CEST), the Packers now have one more day to prepare for the coming opponent. With the Detroit Lions at home in Lambeau Field, Rodgers & Co. could hardly be more grateful.

But: Even Lions QB Jared Goff was in good shape in week 1, completing 38/57 passes a total of 338 yards and three touchdowns. In the end there was a defeat with eight points difference for Detroit.

The main weakness of the guests is still the defense. So when the Green Bay Packers finally bring their offensive horsepower to the field in the NFC North Duel, there should be another point-rich game to be admired.

The Saints put Rodgers under good pressure, especially in the Red Zone, where he was still brilliant in 2020. Last year, the star quarterback brought 73.9% of his passes to the man in the Red Zone and scored 42 touchdowns.

Now he had a fatal interception against rookie cornerback Paulson Adebo because he was simply under enormous pressure. The offensive line has to do a better job here, too, to give its star enough time - even if it only put one sack in the end.

After all: Coach LaFleur has excellent statistics after defeats. The Packers have never lost two regular season games under him in the NFL. It can stay that way, in order to end the unusually early discussions for at least a week.
